It’s hard to believe that summer is already here. Some of us are already on break, and for others, the holidays are just around the corner. In Norway the break starts the last week of June.
Why I Created This Summer Card
I don’t usually make a special summer card or goodbye note for my students, but this year one of my kids is moving on to middle school. I started putting together a little memory book for him — and while working on it, I felt inspired to create a mini version for my other students too. That turned into a card.
About the Summer Card
The card comes in both Norwegian and English versions, and you can choose between yellow, green, or blue backgrounds. It’s designed to be printed double-sided, preferably on slightly thicker paper. This way, you can easily add photos inside the card.
The card is made using PCS symbols (Picture Communication Symbols), which are great for supporting communication and understanding for students with different needs. I wanted to create something that’s both meaningful and accessible to all my students.
How to Use the Card
This summer card is perfect for teachers, parents, or caregivers who want to give students a meaningful keepsake to celebrate the school year. It works well for students of all ages and abilities, especially those who benefit from visual supports like PCS symbols.
Print the card double-sided on thicker paper or cardstock, fold it, and add photos from the school year inside. It’s a wonderful way to capture memories and send warm wishes for the summer.

Looking Forward to Summer (and Beyond!)
If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that summer flies by in the blink of an eye. Before we know it, the new school year begins — with familiar faces returning and brand new little ones coming from preschool.
I’m really looking forward to it… but I’m also very much looking forward to summer and some time off. Sleeping in (which I don’t seem to be able to do anymore — when did that change?!), and long summer evenings (staying up late is no problem for me, whether it’s summer or winter!).
Maybe I’ll manage to take a complete break from work. Maybe not. Either way, I plan to enjoy it — and I hope anyone reading this will too!
